Why relocate to the Island of Guernsey?
Situated just 30 miles off the coast of Normandy in France, yet just a short 40 minute flight from mainland UK, Guernsey has much to offer those working and living here.
At 25 square miles, Guernsey offers a lot for island living; from a myriad of leisure and sports pursuits, first class educational facilities, excellent medical facilities and a true community spirit - and all against a backdrop of a stable government, low crime, low unemployment, low taxation and no VAT with mild winters and warm, sunny summers.
From the capital St Peter Port’s cobbled streets dotted with boutique shops and cozy coffee shops to the traditional Guernsey granite farmhouses set amongst fields grazed by the iconic Guernsey cow, the island oozes character and quaintness from years gone by. Nowhere is this more clearly reflected than in the old Guernsey tradition of Hedge Veg where locals sell their produce on the roadside for others to buy with money being left in honesty boxes.
This is contrasted with a modern, thriving finance industry that is long established, well regulated and home to many of the world’s leading brands, a developing digital industry that is cutting edge and has a first class reputation, and a commercial sector from where many High Street names operate their head quarters, such as Specsavers and Healthspan to name but a few. Employment opportunities are plentiful and varied.
And as part of the Channel Islands, Guernsey is an ideal base from which to experience the other islands of Jersey, Alderney, Sark and Herm and explore further into Europe and the UK.
When you’re not outside enjoying stunning coastal cliff path walks, exploring one of Guernsey’s 27 beaches or sampling the many pubs and restaurants the island has to offer, you’ll be no more than a 20 minute commute into work.
